Keep your skin hydrated
Adequate skin hydration is crucial if you want to put your best face forward. Dehydration can plague anyone, regardless of your skin type, and can make skin appear dull and feel rough. While drinking enough water can help, we recommend keeping your skin well-hydrated with proper skincare. Products containing hydrating ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid and glycerin, can help keep your skin looking plump, smooth, and radiant. To top up your skin’s hydration levels, adopt a layering approach with your formulas. Get an extra boost from serums, lotions, or mists then lock in the benefits with a moisturizer. Layering multiple hydrating formulas is more effective than a single heavy application of one product as it will create multiple barriers to water leaving your skin. Thankfully, skin hydration is something Kiehl’s does well. Ahead, we’ll introduce you to our best hydrating skincare products and set to level up your hydration routine. Refresh your face with a good cleanse
Cleansing is the foundation of every good skincare routine, and we don’t mean just whipping a quick face wipe over your complexion. When combined with dirt, bacteria, and heat, your skin’s pores can become clogged, and blemishes can occur. To keep your skin clear and minimize the risk of breakouts or blemishes appearing, start your day by washing your face or using a gentle cleanser. It’s recommended to clean your skin twice a day – removing nasties like excess oil, pollution, dirt, and debris, not to mention sweat, makeup, and SPF. We have prepared sets of good functional routines of cleansing, toning, and exfoliating to let your complexion look its best. Discover our cleanser
Get clearer-looking skin
If there’s one thing everyone wants, it’s even, glowing skin. A naturally radiant complexion can help your skin look better without makeup, minimize the appearance of age-related concerns like wrinkles, and contribute to an overall healthier-looking complexion. But figuring out how to get glowing skin isn’t all that straightforward. That said, we’ve been at this for a while—nearly 170 years, in fact—and in that time, we’ve developed a solid understanding of what ingredients can help boost brightness and promote a more radiant complexion, as well as what causes dull skin in the first place. Learning the source of your lack of glow is essential; common causes are aging, sun damage, and not exfoliating. Ahead, we’re sharing the best Kiehl’s products and sets to help you achieve a healthy-looking glow for the entire month.Discover our healthy and glow products
Our top ingredients for Ramadan
Maintain your skin hydration with Vitamin C
Over time and with age, your skin becomes drier, less elastic, and duller looking, thanks to the gradual depletion of key nutrients related to the skin’s hydration and elasticity. One such nutrient is vitamin C. Studies show that vitamin C plays a role in maintaining the skin’s overall hydration(1). Using skincare products containing vitamin C can help protect the skin against water loss, which helps reduce dullness and promotes more radiant-looking skin. Discover our Vitamin C products
Boost your skin hydration with Hyaluronic acid
Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in your skin, and one hyaluronic acid molecule has the ability to hold 1,000 times its weight in water. The fact that it’s naturally occurring in your skin means it’s highly compatible with it, which has made it a massively popular ingredient in skincare products for dry and mature skin. When used topically, its benefits include replenishing skin to boost hydration, improving skin’s elasticity, rough texture, and firmness, and decreasing the appearance of wrinkles. Revitalize your skin with Oil-Rich Avocado, a powerful moisturizer
On average, avocado oil contains about 62% lipids, including monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. Studies show that avocado oil can penetrate the skin’s natural moisture barrier more effectively than other popular plant oils, like olive oil or almond oil. This makes avocado an effective moisturizer, particularly for those with dry, chapped, or flaky skin. Discover our Avocado products
Renew your skin with Retinol
When used topically, Dr. Henry says retinol has “a multitude of benefits.” “We often call it the holy grail of dermatological medications,” she adds. Most commonly, retinol is used to help address acne and visible signs of aging, though Dr. Henry notes that it’s also often found in products designed to help manage sagging skin, acne scars, and even dark spots and discolorations. As for how it works, Dr. Henry explains that retinol is an antioxidant that helps improve skin’s natural turnover. “That process helps to unclog pores,” she explains, as well as help improve the appearance of areas with irregular or uneven skin pigmentation. It can also “help [improve the look of fine lines and wrinkles,” she adds. “It has a multitude of uses. It attacks most of our concerns regarding skincare.” Discover our Retinol products

Your Skincare Routine Order: A Step-by-Step Guide
While having a dedicated skincare routine is a key part of Kiehl’s healthy skin philosophy, it’s only
half the battle. You also need to know the correct skincare routine order to get the most out of your
chosen products.
The most important thing to consider when trying to determine the correct skincare order of application
is, of course, to follow the instructions outlined on your products. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all
rulebook. That
said, when trying to remember the correct order to apply skincare products, a general rule of thumb is
to layer your products, starting with the thinnest, water-based formulas and ending with the thickest
products. The goal
is to allow each product to absorb before layering on your next product, and lightweight, water-based
formulas are typically more penetrable and quicker to absorb than heavier products.
With that in mind, we’ve put together a general guideline for the most effective way to layer your
skincare products.

Step #1: Cleanser
A clean canvas is crucial if you want your skincare products to work their best, which means that in your order of skincare products, cleanser should come first. We recommend reaching for a mild facial cleanser, like our classic Ultra Facial Cleanser.

Step #2: Toner
Once your skin is clean and dry, the second step in your routine is to apply toner. The purpose of toner is twofold: First, to remove any oil, dirt, or residue that remains after cleansing, and secondly, to prepare your skin for the more concentrated treatments, like serums, that you’ll be applying later in your routine. We recommend trying a gentle, alcohol-free formula, such as Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner.

Step #3: Face Serum
Serums are essential for maintaining healthy-looking and feeling skin. In the morning, we recommend using a vitamin C serum, like Powerful-Strength Vitamin C Serum. For your nighttime skincare routine, try a retinol serum, such as Micro-Dose Anti-Aging Retinol Serum.

Step #4: Eye Cream
The skin around the eyes is significantly thinner than the skin on the rest of the face, so it’s no surprise that it’s one of the first areas to show visible signs of aging. To help keep it looking its best, we recommend incorporating an anti-aging eye cream into your usual skincare routine. Try our Avocado Eye Cream.
Kiehl’s Tip: To help instantly revive tired, puffy eyes, keep your eye cream in a skincare fridge. Applying the chilled cream directly to your eyes helps to reduce puffiness and give your eyes a wakeful boost—even if you’re half asleep.

Step #5: Moisturizer
Moisturizing daily is an essential skincare step in every routine, regardless of skin type. What kind of moisturizer you pick, however, is heavily dependent upon your skin: A person with oily skin wouldn’t benefit from a super-heavy, rich cream, while a person with dry skin would find little relief in a lightweight gel moisturizer. You can seek out a moisturizer designed specifically for your skin type, or use one that’s suitable for all skin types, such as Ultra Facial Cream with Squalane.

Step #6: Face Oil
Next among your skincare routine steps is applying face oil. If you have oily skin, you may be wary of putting oil directly on your skin out of fear of breaking out. However, if applied properly, using a facial oil can actually help keep your skin balanced since hydrated skin often produces less oil than dehydrated skin. Of course, we wouldn’t recommend slathering just any oil on your skin, as formulas that aren’t designed specifically for the face can clog your pores. Additionally, the type of oil you use may vary based on when you’re applying it: Daytime formulations tend to be lighter-weight and more readily absorbed, while evening variations are often heavier and richer.

Step #7: UV Defense
Ultra Light Daily UV Defense is our pick—the lightweight, non-comedogenic formula provides broad-spectrum protection from UVA and UVB rays and is suitable for all skin types. Apply it as the final step in your daytime skincare routine, every day, smoothing it on at least 15 minutes before sun exposure. Be sure to also take other sun-protection measures, such as avoiding direct sunlight at midday and wearing a hat when in the sun. It’s not just about protecting how your skin looks or preventing annoying sunburns—it’s about keeping you healthy, inside and out.
